Learn to write
To learn to write does not need to be as daunting as it first seems, whether you are a child just beginning to learn to write or perhaps an adult that has never had the opportunity to learn to write.
The learning process will be the same whatever age you are as writing is something you need to take straight back to basics, you cannot learn to write in the middle somewhere. To learn to write successfully it needs to be from the beginning.
Of course to able to learn to write you need to be able to read as if you cannot read how are you going to know what you have written?.
You are actually learning about writing constantly without even realising, writing surrounds us. From road signs, magazines, newspapers & leaflets to menus, timetables, birthday cards & letters text/words are everywhere. The procedure to learn to write has started way before you officially learn to write.
When you learn to write for the first time you need to be aware of what it is you would like to say through your words. The two key elements of writing are the planning & the actual writing itself, so think about what you would like to say & have a go at writing the words down.
Of course to master the skills that go along with writing is equally as important, spelling, grammar & punctuation. Once you are confident in these you will discover that being able to learn to write will become easier, when you begin do not panic too much about the grammar side of writing though. Concentrate more on the content of your writing; pick out the parts that you feel are good, you may have written a really strong beginning but a messy ending. So you now know that you need to work on the conclusions more.
Another way to learn to write is to invent some fun into the process, make up some word games to play. These are a great way of learning, a favorite one is the word association game where one person says a word, such as ‘salt’ & the next person says the first word that pops into their head like ‘pepper.’
Or there is the animal based word game, one person says an animal like ‘tiger’ & the next person has to think of an animal beginning with the last letter of that word. So this would be an animal starting with an ‘r’ maybe ‘raccoon.’ These are brilliant ways to learn to write because even though you are not writing as such you are learning about letters & word association.
Have regular spelling tests somebody asks you to spell a word & you write your answer down, this way you are practicing your writing along with having to think about how to spell it.
Whatever your reasons for wishing to learn to write that is not important, the main point is that you have taken the initial step by wanting to learn to write. You will open up many more doors when you can write it is one of the best ways of communication & being able to express yourself through your words is extremely satisfying.
